Briefing, Assistant or Plan: which one do I want?

Three tabs sit at the top of your AI Shop Manager, and they are not three versions of the same thing. Each one is a different verb.

Briefing – read this first

Your once-a-day read of the shop. Where the money is, what your winners have in common, what is lagging, and the handful of moves worth your next hour.

It is advice only and has no write access to Etsy. Start here, because it tells you which of the other two tabs you need today. More in your daily briefing.

Assistant – when you want to make something

The conversational side. You talk through what you are considering and it comes back with product ideas grounded in your own sales history and current market signals, ready to launch.

Use it when the answer is “make a new piece”. The Make this button on a briefing item drops you here with the full context already loaded, which is why it beats starting from a blank create form. More in getting started with the AI Assistant.

Plan – when the fix is to an existing listing

A queue of prepared edits to listings you already have: tag refreshes, title rewrites. Each one shows the current value and the proposed value side by side, with its reasoning.

Nothing is applied until you approve it, applied changes can be reverted in one click, and anything targeting a bestseller asks twice before it goes. More in what the Plan can change.

The short version

• Something existing needs fixing? Plan.

The Briefing routes you to the right one anyway. Each of its items carries a single primary action that sends you where the work happens, so you rarely have to make this choice consciously.

Why they are separate

They have different consequences, and the tabs make that visible.

Reading advice is free and reversible. Making a piece spends credits. Approving a change edits a live listing that real buyers are looking at. Collapsing all three into one chat box would hide exactly the distinction you most want to see – which of these actions can change something.

FAQ

Do I need a paid plan for all three? Active use of the Shop Manager is a paid feature. Free accounts can read but not act.

Is the Shop Brain a fourth tab? No. It is the Memory tab inside the Assistant, which is the surface that writes it.

Does dismissing a briefing item remove it from the Plan? No. They are separate queues – a briefing item is a suggestion of where to look, a plan action is a specific prepared edit.
