Why your numbers differ from Etsy’s

Open Elistit and Etsy side by side and the figures may not agree. That is expected, and in most cases both are correct. They are answering slightly different questions.

Here are the five reasons, in the order they usually explain it.

1. The clock

Etsy publishes shop statistics once a day. Elistit takes one snapshot per shop per day, at an hour set for your shop.

So Elistit is always showing you the position as of your last sync, not the position right now. If you made a sale an hour ago, Etsy knows and Elistit does not, until the next sync.

For anything today, trust Etsy.

2. The window

Etsy’s stats page defaults to its own periods, and its shop rating is calculated over the past year. When you pick “30 days” in Elistit you get exactly the last 30 calendar days.

Two different windows over the same shop produce two different totals without either being wrong. Before concluding anything, check that both sides are set to the same range.

3. Where views come from

Etsy does not publish a per-day view history. It publishes a running lifetime total per listing.

Elistit records that total each day and stores the difference between one day and the last. That difference is your daily view figure. It follows that:

• There is no view data from before you connected the shop. The counting started when we did.
• A day the sync missed rolls into the next day’s figure rather than disappearing, so a total across a range stays right even if one day looks high.
• Paused and expired listings contribute nothing while they are down, because Etsy only tabulates the counter for active listings.

4. Where sales come from

Sales and revenue are reconstructed from your Etsy receipts, so they are tied to the date each order was placed. This is why sales history can reach back further than view history, sometimes years further.

Revenue here is the order value recorded on the receipt. It is not what lands in your bank. Etsy’s fees, taxes, discounts and refunds are settled in your Etsy payment account and are not deducted from the figure shown here.

5. What each tool counts as a listing

Elistit shows every listing it has synced, including ones it tried to create that Etsy rejected. Those do not exist on Etsy, so a listing count here can exceed the count there.

Which to trust for what

The split is consistent: Etsy is authoritative for the present and for money. Elistit is built for comparison over time.

When it is a real problem

Most differences are one of the five above. Investigate if:

• Elistit shows no data at all while Etsy shows an active shop. Usually the connection needs re-authorising.
• Sales stop appearing while views keep updating. That points at receipt access rather than the connection as a whole.
• The figures have not moved in several days. One sync a day is expected; several days of no movement is not.

Reconnecting the shop resolves most of these, and re-syncing fills the gap afterwards.

Which one is “right”? Etsy, always, for anything about the present or about money. Elistit is a lens over the same data, built for questions Etsy’s own dashboard does not answer well, such as comparing listings across a period.
